Alanya is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Turkish Riviera. It is located 120 km east of Antalya, on a peninsula between the Mediterranean Sea in the south and the Taurus Mountains in the north. Every year, millions of tourists choose Alanya to enjoy the sun, sea, sand, nature and nightlife. In addition to foreign visitors from countries such as Germany, Holland, Scandinavia and Russia, many foreigners have bought property in Alanya for their holidays or retirement in recent years.

Alanya’s history dates back to the Paleolithic age. The city, which was known as Korakesion in the 4th century BC, later hosted many civilizations such as Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Karamanid, Lusignan, Mamluk and Ottoman. The city experienced its brightest period during the reign of Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I and took the name Alaiye. It is said that Atatürk gave the city the name Alanya in 1933.

Alanya is today one of the best preserved examples of Seljuk architecture. There are many ancient sites, monuments and caves in the city, as well as natural beauties. Places such as Alanya Castle, Red Tower, Shipyard, Damlataş Cave, Dim River and Sapadere Canyon are worth seeing.
