What to Do in Alanya Month by Month

Thursday, July 16, 2026 · 10 minutes' reading

Alanya's season is longer than the brochures say: in this corner of the Mediterranean you can swim until late October and the sun works even in winter. But each month is best at something different.

April - May: canyons and nature

The greenest greens and the fullest rivers. Sapadere and Köprülü peak in these months; jeep safari tracks are dust-free and the midday sun is bearable. The sea opens to the brave from mid-May (~20-21°C).

June - August: sea and boats

Sea at 25-28°C, boat season in full swing. The rule now is to start early: morning departures are cooler and calmer. Push canyon walks to the morning and city strolls to the evening. July-August is also peak crowd season — book tours a few days ahead.

September - October: the sweet spot

The year's quiet champion. The sea is still above 25°C, the crowds have thinned and prices soften. Boat, canyon and culture fit into the same week. If you ask us, these are the best months to come.

November - March: culture and city

The swimming season closes; the city does not. The castle, the museums and ancient routes like Side and Aspendos are far more pleasant in cool air, and a seafront breakfast in the midday sun works even in midwinter. Boat and rafting tours run weather permitting.
